Lynn wins the award of the night!
Lynn Laughland, Managing Director of HRM Homecare Services, has been honoured at the UK-wide Homecare Insight Leaders in Care Awards with a special lifetime achievement award.
HRM Homecare Services has been in operation for over 28 years, after Lynn set up the business in 1994 from her living room, building it into a leading care at home company and works across North and South Lanarkshire, Falkirk, East Ayrshire, North Ayrshire, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and East Dunbartonshire.
Businesswomen, Lynn, was honoured at a gala dinner and ceremony in front of her industry peers at the Imperial Suite of the National Conference Centre in Birmingham. This prestigious award is tribute to the decades of commitment Lynn has shown the sector, championing positive change, improvement, and continuous dedication to providing high-quality care support and critical care services for those most in need, with life challenges, including dementia.
Donald Macaskill, Chief Executive of Scottish Care, said: I was absolutely delighted to read of the richly deserved recognition for Lynn Laughland in the recent UK Care Awards. This recognition is for years of professional and creative contribution not only in her own organisation, but as a thought leader across the homecare sector, both in Scotland and across the United Kingdom. It is a recognition of the real value and difference Lynn has made to the lives of so many both who have worked in and who use social care supports.
The social care sector has encountered a challenging couple of years, facing the global COVID-19 pandemic and one of the worst recruitment crises to hit the sector. Yet, Lynn continued to deliver services as essential workers during lockdowns and grew the company’s workforce by more than 20%, standing strong with nearly 300 employees.
A key influencer for change, Lynn has set out her vision of how a growing, successful care sector could drive forward a different future that could see it become a significant economic driver for Scotland, providing thousands of new high-quality and well-paid jobs.
Lynn’s Lifetime Achievement award is reflective of her own personal development, ensuring to stay abreast of latest developments within the sector, achieving several qualifications including MScs in Social Work and Dementia Studies, and Post-Graduate Diplomas in Community Care and Social Services Leadership.
Lynn said: “I am deeply honoured and humbled to have received this Lifetime Achievement Award. I would like to dedicate this award to my family, my wonderful staff at HRM Homecare – some of whom have been with me for more than two decades – and to the care sector as a whole, for the hours of hard work, dedication and sheer hard graft to help people live well and independently.
“Day in, day out, we continue to make a real difference to the lives of people, many of whom have severe life challenges. Working in care at home, particularly during COVID-19, has been a challenge. But we have risen to that challenge, and that has also been very rewarding and uplifting.”
